ANNUAL RECOGNITION AWARDS PROGRAM
The Tennessee Council for Professional Archaeology maintains an awards program to publicly recognize and acknowledge significant contributions of individual avocational or professional archaeologists to the archaeology of Tennessee. The awards recognize significant and special achievements of individuals over the past calendar year* or over a career. They also recognize the contributions of graduate students over the last calendar year. The current awards categories approved by the Board include:
- Avocational Career Achievement Award
- Professional Career Achievement Award
- Special Achievement Awards for Avocational and Professional Archaeologists (recognizing special achievements over the past calendar year)
- Special Recognition Awards for a Thesis/Dissertation on Tennessee Archaeology (completed within the past calendar year)
These awards are not necessarily intended to be “annual” awards, but are intended to recognize special and significant contributions as warranted. The Awards Committee welcomes nominations from members in any of these categories. For initial nomination, please email the nominee’s name and a maximum 400-word nomination statement to the Awards Committee Chair, Phil Hodge at Phillip.Hodge@tn.gov. Nominations for theses/dissertations must include an electronic copy of the nominee’s thesis or dissertation. The Awards Committee may request additional information for any nominees, if warranted. All nominations are due to the Awards Committee Chair by December 23, 2014.
*For the purposes of this awards program, the TCPA defines the past calendar year as January 1, 2014 to December 23, 2014.
